Target Rebates
Target rebates sign-up...
If you have a Target card already go to www.target.com/tcoe and it's pretty self explanatory.
If you don't have a Target card yet go to customer service and sign-up for one. During the registration process indicate that you'd like more info on supporting a school. When you receive materials about it designate Mill Creek.

Halloween Parade Information
All are welcome to attend!
The annual Halloween Parade will be held on Thursday, October 31st beginning at 9:30 AM.
First through sixth grade classroom parties will begin in the afternoon at 1:50 PM.
The parade for the PM-Kindergarten classes will begin at 1:10 PM outside the Kindergarten windows. Parties begin immediately following at 1:30 PM.
Please remember that there are a few rules about the children’s costumes: no revealing clothing, no violent themes and no swords, guns, or other weapons.

Walk for Education
Annual Fundraiser Fact Sheet
WALK FOR EDUCATION
For the fourth consecutive year, the Mill Creek Home & School Association will host the Walk for Education. This fundraiser is the main contributor to the HSA operating expenses. The last three years have allowed the HSA to maintain our operating budget to include items such as:
• HSA contributions toward class field trips
• An increase in our student assembly budget
• A $6.36 gift voucher for each child at our Buy One, Get One Spring Book Fair
• A free yearbook to each 6th grade student
• Classroom publications previously paid for by parents are now paid for by the HSA (National Geographic for Kids, Time for Kids, etc.)
What is the Walk for Education?
Walk for Education is an annual walk-a-thon, which involves students walking around a designated area at Mill Creek for one hour.
What makes the Walk a success?
The success of Walk for Education is based on students bringing in the names of people who are potential sponsors for the walk-a-thon.
How can you help?
In the September 26th Thursday folder, a packet of information as well as a blank label sheet will come home with your child. Please fill in the label sheet with the names of family & close friends that would be willing to sponsor your child for the Walk for Education. For every 10 names that a student brings in, our school should receive at least $75.00 in contributions. Potential sponsors may be family members, relatives, close friends, and neighbors. Special emphasis should be placed on out-of-state relatives and friends. Please do not solicit the people you do business with, e.g., barber, dentist, doctor, etc.
What happens with the labels we send in to school?
A form letter will be sent to the individuals listed on your child’s label sheet. This letter will outline what the Walk for Education is, what the donated funds will be used for, and it will give each recipient an opportunity to sponsor your child in this year’s Walk for Education.
Are there prizes for student participation?
There are incentives and prizes to help promote the success of Walk for Education, which encourage student participation -- these prizes include a chance of winning classroom pizza parties and for participating students to win gift cards as well as one of three iPad Minis!
What is the date of the walk-a-thon portion of the Walk for Education?

Student Directory Information
MILL CREEK STUDENT DIRECTORY
The 2013-2014 edition of the Mill Creek Student Directory will be available soon.
!!!!!! IMPORTANT CHANGE TO THIS YEAR'S DIRECTORY !!!!!!
This year, everyone’s information including names, address and phone number, as provided to the district, will be automatically included in the directory UNLESS YOU CHOOSE TO OPT OUT. Be on the lookout for and carefully read the flyer that will give you the option to opt out in the Thursday folder distributed the first week of school or in the email blast Thursday folder distributed by the school office.
PLEASE DO NOT TEAR FORM AT DOTTED LINE, print family name and parent's name at the top in the space provided and sign the bottom of the form indicating you are opting out of the directory. This form must be returned by September 16th, otherwise your information will appear in this year's directory.
Directories will be distributed to all via an Email link directly to the password-protected PDF on our school website (at no charge).
A paper format will also be available for purchase at a cost of $5 ($4.71 plus tax), paying either cash or check payable to “Mill Creek Home & School Association” and can be purchased at Back to School Nights(BTS).
Look for our table in the lobby at your BTS!

The 6th Grade Ice Cream Social
The 6th Grade Ice Cream Social takes place on Friday, September 13 during 6th grade recess (11:15 - 11:45am). There is no rain date assigned. If the forecast isn't favorable, the HSA will adjust the date as needed. Our menu will consist of vanilla and chocolate ice cream with rainbow sprinkles.

This school year the Mill Creek Home & School Association plans to publish three issues of the M.C. Kids’ Corner, a newsletter showcasing literary work of Mill Creek students. If you would like to see your work in these pages, please include your written piece (poem, short story, book review, etc.), artwork, or puzzle with your teacher’s daily folder. Written pieces should be no longer than 500 words and all artwork must be original (cannot be traced or copied).Work must be YOUR BEST – neatly prepared on white, unlined paper (both sides). All items must be done darkly in black (lightly done and color items do not reproduce in a high quality format). Mark your submission “M.C. Kids’ Corner” and label it with your first and last names, grade, and your teacher’s name. Email written work to the editors at: millcreek_hsa@cbsd.org with a subject line reading “Kids Corner.” (Please note that there is an “_” between millcreek and hsa.)

Library Volunteers are Needed
Volunteers work in the library either weekly or every other week on a regular basis, Monday through Friday. They assist students with checking books in and out, shelving books and book selection.
The shifts are in 2 hour increments.
There are several shifts open and one of the library aide coordinators will be available to train during a first time shift. There are also opportunities to go on the sub list, in the event a volunteer cannot cover their particular shift.
